Dennis Distribution cuts its carbon footprint with Gray & Adams lifting-deck trailer
Dennis Distribution is a specialist provider of logistics services to the food industry. It runs 32 tractor units and 50 semi-trailers, of which 20 are by UK's leading manufacturer of temperature-controlled transport equipment: Gray&Adams. Recently, Dennis Distribution launched its first double-deck semi-trailer built by Gray&Adams, which offers a single-temperature Carrier Vector 1950 refrigeration unit and 44-pallet capacity. This provides a 10% increase compared to a standard double-decker.
Moreover, the new Volvo FH tractor effectively pulls the lifting-deck trailer enabling Dennis Distribution to save fuel and cut emissions. The trailer is now used to transport the finest beef, veal and venison on a daily basis from Dovecote Park's Stapleton Estate in West Yorkshire to Waitrose Regional Distribution Centre in Berkshire.

General Manager of Dennis Distribution, Andrew Revely said: "“We identified a daily route that offered an opportunity to achieve some significant efficiency gains by making full use of the lifting-deck trailer’s additional carrying capacity. This increased productivity and the resulting reduction in road miles is benefiting the environment, through the reduction in emissions. By maximising utilisation of our tractor unit fleet it has also freed up a vehicle for other work.”
