TOTAL, partner of Aston Martin Racing
On the 5th of July 2016, Total announced its support for Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing at the unveiling of the radical AM-RB 001 hypercar. This revolutionary car was the result of a technical partnership between Aston Martin and Red Bull Racing, in order to create a "never seen before" car. Thanks to its lightweight carbon fibre structure, much of its downforce is generated through underfloor aerodynamics. More technical details will be revealed in due course.
Aston Martin and Total have signed a global agreement earlier this year, making Total Aston Martin's energy partner through 2016 to 2017. With 45 years of reasearch, development and experience accumulated over the racing seasons, Total is an expert in lubricants, greases, fluids and special additives with high quality and technical performance. Marc Smith, General Manager at Total UK, Lubricants Division, explained that Aston Martin's factory has been provided with Total fuel pumps and that every car coming off the production line will be filled with Excelium fuel.
As part of the agreement, Total will support Aston Martin Racing throughout the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC). This is a great advantage for the car maker which will be surrounded by the best experts in customized fuels and lubricants to make the most powerful engines. For the first time outside of Formula 1, Total will provide a mobile laboratory and technical support with a dedicated engineer present at each WEC race event.
Both companies are also exploring futher opportunities to utilise the energy suppliers's Total Excellium products.
