Closure of Abbey Logistics' Haulage Division
Abbey Logistics is closing its general haulage and pallet division, which represents 7% of the group revenue. This decision was taken by the group to provide a greater focus on its core skills. Abbey Logistics wishes to focus on its road tanker and value-added services businesses. Not only did they win a contract to manage bulk movements for British Sugar last year, they also expanded its value-added services to include warehousing, drumming and reprocessing.
"This decision was taken by the group to provide a greater focus on its core skills."
Abbey Logistics employs 68 people across the haulage and palletised division. Regarding this transition, chief executive Steve Granite said: “We hope to transfer colleagues from the general haulage and palletised division into our tankers business to the greatest extent possible, and Abbey will support colleagues through this period of change and provide as much information as possible about future employment opportunities.”
